Anton's Collection
Yes, I'm a self-confessed shutterbug, always on the hunt for that perfect postcard moment. The majority of my images (showcased below) were published in various print and online media platforms.
BEDROCK HERMANUS
A restless sea hammers the coast of Hermanus during the town's annual Whale Festival. Brave tourists hang around the edge to catch a glimpse of a Southern Right Whale. (©Anton Pretorius - Published).
SACRED COWS OF SENQU
While on expedition in Lesotho with Kingsley Holgate, we came across a local cow stuck in the muddy banks of the Senqu River for nearly 12 hours. With winch-straps and some elbow-grease, we helped local villagers retrieve the fatigued cow, ultimately saving its live, and the livelihood of the inhabitants. A setting sun over Cape Town's iconic Table Mountain prompt the shining lights of the city's northern suburbs. This image was taken from Tygerberg Hill with the N1 Highway in the foreground. (©Anton Pretorius - unpublished). Camera: Nikon D3100
SUNSET KITESURFER
On a spectacular summer's evening, a lonely kitesurfer enjoys a final session and a few quiet moments in the waters of Muizenberg beach as the sun sets slowly behind the mountain. (©Anton Pretorius - Unpublished)
BATHING BOXES OF MUIZENBERG
I love the colourful Victorian 'bathing boxes' of Muizenberg beach. These old-style beach pavilion and those iconic, boldly-coloured huts is like stepping back into time. (©Anton Pretorius - Published)
NO DOGS ALLOWED
This images was taken randomly at a roadside restaurant along the West Coast of Cape Town. The owner's dog (in picture) was enjoying an afternoon nap before my untimely interruption. Clearly exempt from the house rules, the dog's facial expression tells you exactly what he thinks of the sign. BLACK OYSTERCATCHER
The African black oystercatcher is a large charismatic wader and one of my favourite marine bird species. It's resident to the mainland coasts and offshore islands of southern Africa - and a conservation success story. This flock was snapped close to the West Coast town of Yzerfontein.
